Tupac Shakur took the stage at the Coachella music festival this past weekend and has stirred up some controversy in the process. Does this mean that we can look forward (or with disdain) to seeing performances by Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, or the Beatles? Though the idea may be tempting, there is a certain amount of exploitation that one can argue here. Namely, that the legacies of these artists are being reincarnated soley for the purpose of a performance. There is no doubt that the special effects used in these holographic images is impressive, but there's something to be said about the timeless factor of our deceased favorite artists and how their live performances were moments to be remembered and perhaps left in peace.
